Late/Dismissal Policy
Due to the safety and risk associated with the increasingly high number of scholars who are coming late to school, as of August 31, we now require the Parent/Guardian/Adult who is dropping off the student(s) to physically come in to the Front Office and sign in the scholars who arrive after the Tardy Bell at 7:40 AM
We are certain that we can ensure the safety of everyone in our school community when we work collectively. Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation in this regard. If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me at, 512-414-4445.

Pecan Springs Elementary
Outside Traffic After 7:40 AM
Parents, in efforts to avoid outside traffic during school hours after 7:40 AM in the front half circle drive in we ask that cars use only the right lane and do not block the left lane as we have buses coming in and out that may need to pass through and avoid other vehicles blocking traffic. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their scholar on TUESDAY'S & THURSDAY'S. When you arrive please check in at the Front Office with your ID, Driver's License, OR Passport. Thank you!
Breakfast in The Classroom
In an effort to maximize every minute for instruction, breakfast will be served from 7:30 - 7:50 a.m.
Drop-off and Pick-up School Protocols
During morning drop off, parents and parent guardians will be allowed to:
-
walk their child(ren) up to the designated campus entrances at their school.
During after school pick up, parents and parent guardians will be allowed to:
-
pick up their child(ren) at the designated campus pick-up areas at their school.
Due to safety reasons, parents and parent guardians will NOT be allowed to walk children to their classroom.
Mask are Encouraged, Not Required
With the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, students, staff and visitors are not required to wear face masks when on school properties, unless they have tested positive for COVID-19. Note: Per CDC guidance, individuals with a positive COVID-19 result will be required to wear a mask for five days after returning from quarantine/isolation.
-
On February 25, 2022, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that masking be based on COVID-19 Community Levels
-
Austin ISD required masks throughout most of the last school year and saw a lower positivity rate inside its schools than in the community at large.
-
Austin ISD will continue to follow CDC guidance and keep track of the COVID-19 community level in Austin Travis County.

Meet our Librarian, Ms. Echols!!!
Hello! I’m Ms. Echols, your child’s school librarian. I’m so excited to help your child find books they love! Your child will come to the library once a week for a lesson and checkout time.
All students can check out any books they want. We will have lessons about how to find a book and how to look through it to make sure they want it. Students are also welcome to ask their teacher at any time to visit the library.
All library books are due at least 2 weeks after they are checked out. There are no fines for overdue books at our library, but please encourage your child to return books on time. Lost or damaged books must be paid for by the student responsible.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I’m excited for a new year and to share books with your child!

You can referral your scholar in our Gifted and Talented Program
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Have you ever looked at your student and wondered if other people knew how smart and unique your child is? Well, you’re in luck because I want to inform you of our Gifted & Talented program (GT) here in Austin ISD. Every child from Kinder to 12th grade can be referred to the Gifted & Talented program by a parent/ guardian, teacher, or adult on campus. All you must do is send a note, email, or call your child’s teacher and ask them for a GT referral form. We will send it out in English or Spanish and you can ask for help from a staff member if you are not familiar with what the question is asking. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
