Greetings Pecan Springs Family, 

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed interim principal of Pecan Springs Elementary. I am both humbled and honored, not only for the opportunity to lead a school that has a rich history and legacy of academic excellence; but also, the school where I first began my educational career. 

I am proud to say that I have been part of the Austin ISD Family for more than 34 combined years as a student (at Oak Springs, Sims, Allan, Pearce, and LBJ), teacher, and leader. Since graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, I have been privileged to serve a variety of culturally and linguistically diverse learning communities. At Pecan Springs, I was a 5^thand 6^thgrade classroom teacher for 15 years and an instructional coach for two years. Even though I have always felt at home in the classroom setting, it is my work as an administrator that has been the most rewarding. My position (as an administrator at Andrews, Barton Hills, Casis, and Pillow) has afforded me the opportunity to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and community members as we have actualized our campus’ vision: student success.

My vision for Pecan Springs Elementary is no different. I envision continued excellence! I am certain that, through a shared vision, we will “provide a safe collaborative and enriching environment” that is supportive and enables all Eagles to achieve their dreams. I’m confident our students will be inspired and empowered to rise to the challenges of the 21^stCentury global classroom as we implement my three Core Beliefs: being a champion for kids, building trusting relationships, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all. 

In closing, I am looking forward to learning with you and from you this upcoming academic school year. My door is always open and I sincerely welcome your conversation and positive input. Please know that I am totally committed to the Pecan Springs’ Family and remain grateful for the opportunity to “return home” to lead and learn from all of you.

Saludos, Familia de Pecan Springs: 

Con mucho orgullo y emoción me permito escribirles esta carta de presentación como la recién escogida Directora Interina de Pecan Spring Elementary. Me siento muy honrada y a la vez con mucha humildad de estar en esta posición no solo por la oportunidad de estar al frente de una escuela con una historia tan rica y un legado de excelencia académica, pero también porque fué en esta Escuela en donde yo inicié mi carrera en el campo de la Educación. 

Con mucho orgullo me permito comentarles que he sido parte de la Familia de Austin ISD por mas de 34 años combinando mis años de Maestra, Administradora y Estudiante (En Oak Springs, Sims, Allan, Pearce y LBJ). Desde que me gradué de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, he tenido el privilegio de servir a una gran variedad de comunidades en donde el aprendizaje cultural y lingüistico es diverso. En Pecan Springs, fui maestra de 5^toy 6^togrados por 15 años y Especialista de Instrucción por dos años Aunque me siento completamente a gusto en un salon de clases, es el trabajo como Administradora el que más recompensas me ha dado. Mi posición (como Administradora en Andrews, Barton Hills, Casis, y Pillow) me dieron la oportunidad de trabajar en colaboración con Maestros, Personal y miembros de la Comunidad mientras actualizabamos la “vision” de la Escuela: éxito estudiantil.

Mi vision para Pecan Springs no ha cambiado. Yo visualizo excelencia continua! Estoy segura que por medio de una visión compartida, les “otorgaremos un ambiente seguro y de aprendizaje” que va a apoyar y permitir que todas nuestras “Aguilas” cumplan sus sueños. Tengo plena confianza en que por medio de la implementación de mis Tres Creencias esenciales: Ser un campeón para los niños, construir relaciones de confianza mutua y asegurar oportunidades iguales para todo mundo, nuestros estudiantes van a estar inspirados y empoderados para hacer frente a los retos de un salon de clases global del Siglo 21.

Para terminar, espero aprender con usted y de usted en este año escolar. Mi puerta está siempre abierta y le doy una sincera bienvenida a su conversación y retroalimentación positive. Sepa por favor que estoy totalmente comprometida hacia la Familia de Pecan Springs y que sigo estando agradecida por la oportunidad de “regresar a casa” para dirigir y aprender de todos ustedes.
