Eagle Newsletter - Welcome Letter 2022-2023!

Welcome Letter 2022-23

Greetings and Welcome Back Family!

“The key is not spending time, but in investing it.” (Stephen R. Covey). So, whether you indulged in a staycation, went to the beach or theme park, traveled out of the state or out of the country, it is our sincere hope that each of you spent your summer investing in you. As in previous years, please know that your self-care will be a top priority.

Our overarching theme ( "Building a Better Future, One Eagle At a Time") will continue to be the foundation of all we endeavor to do. For the 2022-2023 school year, our sub-theme ("All Aboard the Eagle Energy Bus: Destined for Excellence") will help us navigate whatever challenges (or shall I say opportunities for growth) that might be before us.

Mrs. Gomez-Montalvo and I are inviting each of you to board the Eagle Energy Bus with an unwavering spirit of positivity! Let's be reflective in our practice and hold each other accountable for where we are; and resolve to give our EVERYTHING.

Let's REdiscover and acknowledge our collective strengths and talents, to REfocus our intentions and actions for excellence for all scholars, and to REunite as a community of GAMEChangers. I am certain that when we work collectively, we are destined for success!

Go Eagles!

Key PIckup and Move-In Information

Our Custodial Crew (Mr. Rivera, Ms. Cristabel, & Ms. Maria) are a Dream Team! I am both grateful and proud to say that even with 4 summer programs/camps running on campus this summer, all wings/hallways will be accessible on Wednesday, August 3rd. When you see them, please express your gratitude:)

Ms. Sara will be available to distribute keys from 1:00-3:00 p.m. beginning August 3rd and August 4th from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. If these times are not convenient with your schedule, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Please, please, please, do not scuff our freshly waxed floors, leave trash outside your classroom after you unpack, or ask the custodians to help you move furniture until the entire building is ready. Mr. Rivera and his crew have a tight timeline and can't be interrupted before our final inspection. Know that we are more than willing to pitch in to help.

In addition, please keep in mind that Ms. Watson and Ms. Hankins will be hard at work completing office tasks and registration. Unfortunately, they will not be able to provide assistance with the copiers, laminators, supplies, etc.

Thank each of you in advance for your consideration and cooperation in this regard.

FREE access to Canva!

All students and staff now have free access to Canva for Education through a new tile in the Austin ISD portal. Any existing accounts that staff have created will remain. Learn more about getting started with Canva for Education here and access professional learning resources here.

As rosters are updated with the rollover for the 2022-2023 school year, teachers and students will be added to Canva for Education Teams for their campus and will have access within BLEND. We look forward to seeing this creativity tool in action with students!

If you have questions, please contact Laura Browder via Teams or email (laura.browder@austinisd.org).
